About the District of Columbia DMV The District Of Columbia Division Of Motor Vehicles main office is open for dealer and titling service work Monday through Friday.  If a holiday occurs on Monday, DC DMV is closed on Tuesday as well.  DC DMV requires exact payment with the submitted work or the work is rejected.  Registration will also be rejected if the applicant has insurance violations,  outstanding tickets, delinquent DC taxes, dishonored check to DC, or delinquent child support. All used vehicles are required to pass DC Inspection prior to sale and registration.
